Rape – a Brutal Act

Every time I listen to Rape being committed in one or the other place, I lose my mind. When I see well known faces backing up such brutal acts and blaming the victims for what happened, it gets worse. How can anyone defend Rapists? >.<

I was going through the news headlines and it said :

“The Supreme Court stayed the execution of death sentence of convicts of Nirbhaya case”

It shocked me! Seriously ? Its been more than 1 and a half years. Whats happening ? Already one of the convicts had escaped claiming to be juvenile and now what is the Law waiting for ?

Who can ever forget “Nirbhaya Case“!

The 2012 Delhi gang rape case involved a rape and a fatal assault that occurred on 16 December 2012 in Munirka, a neighborhood in South Delhi, when a 23-year-old female physiotherapy intern was beaten and gang raped in a private bus in which she was travelling with a male friend.

The Delhi high court, in May 2013, had upheld the death sentence awarded to the four convicts in the brutal gang rape and murder of a 23-year-old girl in Delhi on December 16, 2012 that shook the nation’s conscience and led to widespread protests.

As a result of the protests, in December 2012, a judicial committee was set up to study and take public suggestions for the best ways to amend laws to provide quicker investigation and prosecution of sex offenders. After considering 80,000 suggestions, the committee submitted a report which indicated that failures on the part of the government and police were the root cause behind crimes against women.

Thats it ? Or the barbarians who commit rape are not scared of law and punishment ? When these barbarians did not take a minute to think before committing such brutal act, why is the Law taking so long to punish them ?

Is this a good sign to prevent such brutal acts? Or the Law is boosting the gut feeling of such people to think that nothing is gonna happen to them even after committing such brutality against women ?

Measures that needs to be taken against Rape are : To set up fast track courts, quicker prosecution of convicts by considering Rape a serious crime, punishment to the convicts asap and removal of considering convict as juvenile especially if they are involved in Rape.

Information and Public Awareness programmes should be conducted frequently to make each and everyone aware of such brutal acts and the consequences in getting involved. Self defence and martial arts should be made compulsory in every educational institutions.

All I request my friends is to Stay Safe. If you see anyone eve teasing or harassing anyone or any kind of injustice, do not hesitate to raise your voice. Your voice might save someone’s valuable life.

  1. I seriously don’t understand the concept called “juvenile” as in rules… It ll be rather defined well if its related to the mentality level of convict rather than physical age factor….!!!
And hopefully, along with punishing the criminals, even the people who call in a “buchpana” like some ministers are to be first handled the right way first… Laws are in place, but its execution is improper/delayed.. That’s where the problem lies… !!!

    • Yea. Law should be changed as per the rate of crimes. Concept of “juvenile” should be revisited. I hope Bill will be passed at least to decrease the age of consideration for juvenile. Yea as you said strict measures should be taken against people who give improper statements especially when they are ministers followed by millions. Recently a minister states, “Non vegetarians who eat chicken and fish are more into molestation and rape of women”. How worse could it get? Utter Stupidity. >.<
